This happened to be one of those rare fall’s where the wind hasn’t yet stripped away all the color from the Aspens. After last nights storm with some fierce wind there probably isn’t anything left; so we hit it just right. Now every time we head to Reno we have to go over Conway Summit and on one side is a grove of Aspens that normally doesn’t have any color left this time of the year. The winds that rip through that pass just annihilate the leaf’s. One of the morning shoots took us up that pass.
Shooting large grooves of Aspens in fall color can be done and has been done in many ways. With the skies above not having the greatest of clouds to get me interested i stuck with close up shots. With close up shots it’s best to pick out certain patterns or trees that seem unique. The white trunks definitely stand out more with the surrounding oranges and reds. I did think about B&W but there just wasn’t enough contrast in the leafs to make anything interesting happen.
