I keep working with the images from the workshop in Arizona, trying to get better at processing and bringing out all that can be from the static’s. They really do feel like landscapes at time, the work needed in them. This is a PT-22 Recruit, a WWII trainer.The PT-22 was the first monoplane that was used for training army pilots, before it were biplanes. It wasn’t at CAF Headquarters for us to shoot, but we did get to see it fly over at Deer Valley and then got to work with it on the ground. It’s a great looking little plane, the fuselage just sparkled while parked. The only disadvantage was where it was parked; surrounded by hangers, light posts, and other planes. It took some work to remove it all but was well worth the time.
I love the fact that this plane had a wooden propeller. It seems like there are very few planes with wood props which is sad. Wooden prop planes are just cool, they have as much if not more shine to them then the aluminum ones. While waiting for FIFI to arrive i played with this guy. Next to it was of course the two P51’s, and the Spitfire. At the time they weren’t as interesting, having already had worked with both of them the past couple of days. I can’t image flying in one of these with an open cockpit an all, especially can’t image being in the back seat of one of these. It’s a great little plane that i hope i get to work with again.
