I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, winter landscapes make for the best black and whites. The snow covered mountains for a great subject with contrast between the snow and the shadows. One thing that needs to be taken into consideration when working with snow is that, snow is one big reflector. It makes it real easy to get an absolute white point in the image but it also makes for the foreground to be brighter than the clouds. Depending on your exposure compensation that’s dialed in, the snow can have highlights where the information is lost. Using a split grad will help with this.
