Probably the best thing about landscape photography is that it often offers it’s own way to finish an image. Usually with my work, and if you follow my Aviation work you might have noticed this, I tend to put a gradient on the top and bottom of the image in ACR in order to bring the eye down and focus more on the subject. It’s a simple trick much like using a vignette or Darken/Lighten Center in Nik CoforEfex Pro 4. Either way the object is to get the eye to go where I want it to. In some cases nature does that all on it’s own.
If you are looking at these images you are probably saying, “oh well he added the gradient trick again.” Well I didn’t. In fact there are no gradients whatsoever in any of these images. It’s just the natural light and shadows playing their own tricks on the eyes. Granted there is some finishing work, but I tell you the joy of being able to take a click and want to do nothing more than just removing dust is unbelievable.
