One of the questions that I often get is how I get those clean backgrounds? Well it’s kind of simple in that it’s not so simple. When I go to an airfield I watch how the planes land and takeoff and what the background looks like. I then go to the area where it’s the best. When working with static planes again it’s looking for those areas that look great. Now that option doesn’t always happen so the only other option is to remove those unsightly obstacles that draw attention away from the plane in post. Some of the big things are vertical lines, especially telephone poles and wires, and any bright spot that is distracting. In this case finding the areas with the minimal amount of work is best. Some say that i might be cheating, well there isn’t always an option because not every airfield is surrounded with open country anymore.
