One mile down the Road

When we first stopped there wasn’t much light on the clouds but 2 miles down the road the light started to emerge on the clouds and we just had to pull over. It was interesting to watch this cloud just go over the mountain and in a very short amount of time change. Now they have had a really good storm a week ago and that actually covered a lot of the mountains that we don’t normally see getting that white.

Good to be In the Sierra’s

It was great being back in the Sierra’s for the holidays, at least for a short while. As this goes up I’ll already be back in Montana and back to work. This past week Dad and I went down to Chino for a little fun with some of our Aviation buddies and on the way back we caught sunset in Owens Valley. With all the storms that are going through from the West coast to the East it’s not surprising to get some great clouds.

Out on the flats

Last night was the first afternoon session for the ESA and it was a spectacular one. In every direction there was something to photograph. The clouds kept rolling over the mountains and the light followed with it. Dad had the right idea of going south and not north, we’re all glad about that decision.

We didn’t go far before we found a good spot to stop to shoot. The area was so good that it could have been shot in any way that tickled your fancy. Black and Whites, straight shot or HDR all were a fun way to go. Now not having done a HDR i stuck too just the first two options. Still have a lot more shots to play with so it’s back to work.

A gorgeous drive through the desert

Tuesday i took off on another adventure back up north, most would call it a suicide run considering I’ll be heading back to California this weekend. I know four days of driving for a couple days in Montana, why did he do it? Well there was a number of errands to take care of and living between two states that’s just what you have to do. The drive itself was very painless and quite enjoyable. Tuesdays fun came from the amount of storm clouds present as i headed towards Ely. I found a good place to pull over at a bottom of a hill and had some fun with the god beams.

The god beams stuck around for a lot longer than i ever thought they would. It was rather nice it, for it gave me more time to play with them. Oddly enough the entire time i was beside the road no cars came, i say this was odd because of the amount of traffic that was on the road that day. With a few clicks and a simple conversion in post, some black and whites were made. Just good simple driving fun.
