This past week we had a our first real Montana Winter storm come through. We had Winter Storm warnings starting on Wednesday night and going all the way through Saturday. Thursday was the windy day but Friday is when we got the snow. I totaled 18inches in the valley and I’m not even sure how much in the mountains. But they are all white!

I had to go out. All this great fresh powder wasn’t going to last for long. It’s amazing how fast the change in the top layer of snow makes in a photograph. Fresh powder looks very different than an ice covered top. It’s subtle but it’s there. After four days of just gray skies and nothing clouds, on Sunday we had an opening that produced some pretty darn nice clouds. We even had a little color.
