The Trip Back Home

Driving back across four states always takes it toll. It’s a long drive and most of it is through the Nevada Desert. Now I’ve done this drive before, in fact I’ve done the drive so many times I don’t remember how many times. It usually is a rather uninteresting drive but coming back from the holiday storms this past week, the landscape was covered in snow and low cloud cover.

The greatest challenge I found with shooting out the car window when on the side of a highway is finding a safe place to pull over. It really is quite a challenge especially when the snow bank obscures where the safe places are. The only solution that i have found for this is to keep the camera in my lap and when there is a good break in traffic, which driving across the highways of Nevada isn’t hard, then just stop in the road. As long as no one is behind you and you only stay for a couple minutes it doesn’t seem to be a problem. Quick shots indeed.
