In Honor of Memorial Day

This past weekend was filled with BBQ’s and get togethers with friends as has become tradition with Memorial Day Weekend. In truth it’s a great weekend to do exactly those things, even in Montana where it’s been raining all weekend. However, we can’t forget the reason that we have this day off and what it means. Today we give thanks to all those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

I’ve had the great privilege of going to the 70th anniversary of the Doolittle Reunion and the 70th Anniversary of VE Day, both in different years. Both events were a tribute to the men whose courage and sacrifice lead to the freedom that we enjoy today. The one thing that I took away from both events is how important our veterans are. While you’re out today if you happen to cross paths with a veteran take a moment and say thanks for all that they have done. It doesn’t matter from what era they fought, they all deserve our respect.
