A Little Walk Around Town

Architectural and street photography have never been main suits but that’s partly because I have never spent a lot of time doing either. Some people absolutely love it and are really good at it. Like all forms of photography, both come down to light and composition.

When I do go out to do this kind of photography, I usually only take one body and one lens. Keep it simple. I truly love using the 70-180 f/4.5-5.6D Micro but I didn’t have it with me so I went with the D5 and 70-200 VRII. Why this combo? I was going after details. I didn’t think the light was going to produce anything super worth while going really wide and even though I had the 18-35 f/3.5-4.5G ED in my pocket I never used it. As I said, go simple. I followed the light and composed where there was the most compelling light.
